At the first ever Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership Awards, a wide range of individuals and teams were recognised from projects that have given a new lease of life to a Pacer train, through to those supporting people experiencing homelessness.
Last night’s (Thursday 19 October) Celebrate as One awards honoured work taking place across the NHS, local authorities, voluntary and community sector, and independent care sector across Bradford District and Craven.
Over 300 guests made up of the family, friends and colleagues of finalists came together at The Aagrah, Bradford to celebrate.
Bradford born and bred Haris Ahmed hosted the awards where he debuted his poem, dedicated to the partnership:
We celebrate the game changers, stake raisers and risk-takers. We recognise the innovators and trail blazers… From care home teams and the social prescribers, to each and every specialist service provider… You’re a light in these challenging and uncertain times and I couldn’t explain enough in a million rhymes, when we act as one we’re second to none at turning Bradford District and Craven into the safest of havens.
Mel Pickup, Place Lead for the Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Chief Executive Officer, said:
The awards were truly magical, congratulations to all the winners, it’s touching to hear what a difference you’ve made to people’s lives, whether you work in research, art and local cultural activities, sustainability, or on the frontline with our patients or in our communities.
I know it was really hard for our judges to decide on just 17 winners from over 250 nominations, competition was fierce – a testament to the effort and teams and individuals across the district. I’m immensely proud to be a member of a partnership that acts as one across a range of organisations with a common goal of keeping people happy, healthy at home. I hope that everyone has walked away from the awards feeling energised, I certainly have.
Guests were greeted by stilt walkers and the evening started with a meal and magicians before launching into the awards ceremony, presented by young people across the district, including a student midwife, winners of the Yorkshire Asian Young Achievers Awards 2022, Healthy Minds Apprentices, and many more. After the ceremony there were musical performances from local acts All Star Entertainments, Acoustic Humans and a DJ set by Kenzie Cairns.
