What are video consultations?

An alternative to traditional on-site Hospital appointments, video consultations are as convenient as a phone call, retaining the value of face-to-face communication. It can save you travel time and money, and brings care to your home environment, removing you from infection risk at hospital sites. Instead of travelling to your appointment, your join the clinic’s online waiting area. The health service is notified when you arrive, and a member of the team can join you when ready. There is no need for you to create an account. No information you enter is stored or recorded.

Video Consultation powered by Attend Anywhere is a secure NHS video call service for patients with pre-arranged appointment times only.

The service is best accessed using the Google Chrome web browser on a PC, Safari on a Mac (webcam required) or an Android or Apple smartphone.

When you access Video Consultation for the first time, we recommend that you test the service at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment. This way you can check if there are any problems with your connection. If you need support, please contact the telephone number in your letter.

All you need to do is click on the ‘Test Call’ button from within your virtual waiting area below. You will be taken through a series of steps to ensure your equipment is set up correctly (PDF).

Once you have done this, tick the ‘X’ in the box and you will be returned to the virtual waiting area screen where you can click the ‘Start Video Call’ button. You will then enter the private waiting room until your consultation begins.

Please see the videos below, which include guidance in British Sign Language (BSL), Urdu, Polish, Czech/Slovak and Pahari for more information on using Attend Anywhere.
