Our aim is that

We want our people to be safe, healthy and well – both physically and psychologically – in and out of work, and we want everyone to be treated with civility, respect and dignity.

What we will do

A physical and psychological environment that is safe and enhances wellbeing
  • Implement initiatives to meet basic physical needs (e.g. access to hot food, facilities for colleagues)
  • Implement initiatives to tackle violence and aggression towards colleagues
  • Deliver a programme of work to improve colleague health and wellbeing – physical, psychological, financial and social (measuring against the NHS HWB Framework)
  • Ensure our leaders and managers have the resources to support and signpost colleagues to the relevant wellbeing support
Happier working lives
  • Promote and enable a Just and Learning Culture – an inclusive, compassionate and person centred approach – by creating psychologically safe spaces that value lived experience
  • Continue to promote and embed our work on workplace civility – focusing on enabling colleagues to give and receive feedback and have open conversations to resolve challenges at an early stage
  • Develop employment practices and policies to support working lives with flexibility and autonomy
A culture where everyone feels they belong, can Thrive and are part of the BTHFT family
  • Deliver the BTHFT EDI strategy
  • Develop our Thrive brand
  • Continue to refresh and develop our Thrive Portal so that it contains all the resources our colleagues need, when they need it and reflects the changing needs of our workforce
  • Targeted initiatives to address the discrimination and inequities we know from our data
  • Ensure all leaders have a measurable objective on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Develop initiatives to share the things that matter to our colleagues such as the ‘Thrive Hive’

We’ll know we’ve been successful when

We hear our people say:

  • I know where and how to access wellbeing support
  • I am able to work flexibly
  • I feel I belong
  • I am part of the BTHFT family
  • I take my annual leave and don’t carry any days over
  • I am able to switch off when I’m not at work
  • I am valued for who I am, as well as what I do
  • My manager cares about me
  • My organisation respects individual differences
