Team of the Month - February 2019

We love to celebrate the unsung and often unseen heroes of our Trust.

And the Team of the Month winners for February – the Pharmacy Stores team – are a case in point.

Hannah Miller, Assistant Director of Pharmacy – QA, nominated the “often unseen and hidden from the spotlight” team which supports all our Trust sites as well as Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust and local hospices.

She said: “The team is made up of a diverse and dedicated group of individuals who ensure that medicines are where they need to be across our Trust, when they need to be there.

“The team has impressed thanks to its drive and determination to improve the service it provides to our staff and patients.

“Team members have come up with innovative and effective ideas to improve procedures, reduce errors, maximise cost-savings and make life easier for our clinical teams.

“For instance, developing a booklet to be left on wards to support them with ordering stock and allowing easier access to appropriate staff members in stores.”

We were really impressed to hear about the cheerful and enthusiastic way the whole team comes together to find ways to improve services. Many congratulations to everyone in the Pharmacy Stores team!

We are hugely proud of the contribution our staff make to our Trust day in, day out and our winner of February’s Employee of the Month award embodies our values perfectly.

Congratulations to Zsanett Kowal, who is part of our Child Development Service at St Luke’s Hospital, and whose dedication has helped others secure employment.

Zsanett was nominated by our Project SEARCH Coordinator, Bryony Dolby who chose her because of her caring and nurturing nature and the skills she displays as a welcoming mentor.

Bryony said: “Zsanett is currently mentoring Mohammed Waisal in the Paediatric Secretaries team; he is the sixth intern Zsanett has mentored through Project SEARCH Bradford since 2015.”

“Throughout the interns’ placements, Zsanett has adapted her approach to the needs of each individual. She is very patient, and strives for accuracy and high-quality work, which helps interns to acquire and enhance skills, and progress towards their goal of securing paid employment.

“She values the contribution interns make, and has provided a caring and nurturing environment for them to learn and develop. Interns who have worked in this team have said how welcomed they felt, and that they were really included in the team.

“I have nominated her because of the continuous outstanding support she has provided, and the significant impact this has had upon the future employment prospects of the interns she has mentored. An impressive 80 per cent of the graduates Zsanett has mentored have consequently found paid employment, and her mentorship played a key role in that.”

Mohammed added: ’Zsanett is really nice, has helped me a lot and has been really supportive. She is always there and available to help me if I need it. It feels like home in the department.”

Congratulations Zsanett!
