If you have a baby on the unit, we can provide hot and cold food. Hot food is served on ward M3 in maternity and available to all parents who are present for long periods of the day with their baby.
Mealtimes are 12pm to 12:30pm and 5pm to 5:30pm.
We also have a fridge and a microwave on the unit in the parent’s kitchen if you would like to bring your own food. We ask you label all food and drinks with your name and the date.
For health and safety reasons all hot drinks must be in a suitable lidded cup when in the nurseries.
Parking
The Women’s and Newborn Unit is located on Smith Lane. The postcode for a sat-nav is BD9 6DA. Access to the unit is via Smith Lane, Gate 5.
Parents/carers can have access to a parking permit whilst their baby is on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This will enable you to park for free in the pay and display car park outside the Women’s and Newborn building. Please provide the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) ward clerk with your car registration number who will then issue you with a permit.
Accommodation
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has access to a limited number of bedrooms to accommodate parents of babies who are inpatients on the unit. The NICU has four bedrooms within the Women’s and Newborn building, two are situated on the unit and we have a further two on the maternity wards. We can access further accommodation in Field House (immediately behind the Maternity building) in certain circumstances.
Accommodation is not guaranteed and is allocated based upon clinical/social needs.
