Bradford Hospitals’ Charity is thrilled to join forces with one of the most exciting restaurant businesses from Bradford, as it celebrates 20 years of serving up British Asian dishes.
MyLahore is a proud family business which began back in 2002, in the heart of Bradford.
For its 20 Years Together promotion, MyLahore has chosen to resurrect some golden oldie dishes and donate 10 per cent of profits from the sale of them to Bradford Hospitals’ Charity – the official NHS charity partner of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Ishfaq Farooq – one of five brothers who own the business – said the family business had a deep-rooted gratitude for the NHS and desire to give back to Bradford.
“We are incredibly grateful to Bradford Teaching Hospitals,” said Ishfaq. “My brother, Mahroof, who is also one of the founders of MyLahore, has been a renal patient for more than 20 years and had wonderful care and support. And I think the COVID-19 pandemic also opened many people’s eyes as to how important our NHS is.
“Our business is growing and we want our NHS here in Bradford to benefit. We have always supported Bradford Teaching Hospitals, but never publicised before.”
Ishfaq said that the 20 Years Together promotion was a perfect start to a partnership with Bradford Hospitals’ Charity which will see the business raising money to help the NHS do more.
He added: “Bradford Hospitals’ Charity enhances the patient experience. It funds items and extras which are not routinely provided by the NHS, but which have a big impact on patients. I saw for myself when my little boy came into hospital that a toy car, provided by the charity, took the children down to the operating theatre and made the world of difference.”
MyLahore delivered 30 delicious meals to doctors and nurses at Bradford Royal Infirmary’s Accident and Emergency Department to mark the philanthropic partnership.
Sajid Azeb, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, said: “We are both delighted and proud to join forces with MyLahore, at what is a very exciting time for the business.
“What started as a local Bradford restaurant has flourished to become a well-known and much-loved brand in the UK. MyLahore is known for its generosity as well as its delicious food, so we’re excited that our NHS charity is working with such a force for good, so we can raise money to help our Trust do more for patients and staff.”
Hayley Collis, Head of Fundraising for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, said: “There are around 230 local NHS charities across the UK which work within their hospital trusts. Together, we give £1million each day to the NHS, to help it do more.
“Here at Bradford Hospitals’ Charity we fund both large-scale projects and smaller items which make a big impact. Our BIG Neonatal Appeal aims to raise £3million to build extra parent accommodation for our Neonatal Unit.
“MyLahore has had a remarkable journey to become the thriving business it is today, and has truly done Bradford proud. We’re incredibly excited to work with Ishfaq and his family to do something brilliant for Bradford’s hospitals.”
