You may need a hanky at the ready for this week’s film, it’s a heart-warming story of how our Neonatal Unit colleagues develop an extra special bond with their new-born patients and their families.
As part of World Prematurity Day – a national day of recognition for the journey that our patients and families go on, on the neonatal units across the UK and the world – our Neonatal Unit invited families back to come back for a lovely get-together with the staff who became almost family to them.
One of those to return with her little girl was mum Sumaira who had her baby, Maya at 23 weeks and six days and went through a rollercoaster of emotions while Maya was being cared for at the unit.
Matron Jamie Steele also describes how he and his colleagues really get involved in knowing the families and how he loves coming to work and doing the good that he and his team do.
