Bradford Teaching Hospitals is seeking public governors to sit on the Foundation Trust’s Council.
This is an exciting opportunity to represent the interests of Foundation Trust members and partner organisations from the local community.
Three seats are up for grabs in the public constituencies of Bradford West, Bradford South and our new public membership constituency the ‘rest of England and Wales’ for people with an interest in our hospitals who live outside the district.
We are also seeking an additional patient governor, for people who live outside the district but have received treatment at our Foundation Trust
As a governor you will be able to:
- ensure there is robust challenge about the strategic direction of the Trust, its vision and how it is performing
- share with the Board and Council of Governors the views of the local people you represent: actively seeking out what they think about the services provided by Bradford Teaching Hospitals
- take part in meetings of the Council of Governors, its committees, governor training days and Joint Council of Governors/Board of Directors to represent the views of your constituencies and carry out the statutory duties of a governor.
Jacqui Maurice, corporate governance manager for the Trust said: “The Council of Governors plays a very important part in the running of our hospitals and it’s important that people stand as governors so that we have patients’ voices and those of our local communities represented in the important decisions that we make.
“We actively encourage our members to take part in all aspects of hospital life and this is one more way that people can get involved.”
The council is made up of staff, appointed governors from partner organisations and 10 elected members from our public and patient constituencies. Candidates must be a Trust member, aged 16 or over and live in the area they want to represent.
