• Imran sows the seeds of love at BRI

A Bradford tailor is sowing the seeds of love this Eid by donating wildflower seeds to his local hospital.

Imran Khan, of IK Collections, of Westgate, visited the Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) – part of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – on Wednesday (April 2) to hand over two large boxes of seeds to Chief Executive, Mel Pickup, and Chief Gardener, Chris Clarke.

Imran donated the gifts “in honour of Eid and to celebrate the safe arrival of my first born who was safely delivered at the BRI this week”.

    He continued:

“It’s important for people’s mental health that when they come to hospital patients and staff see the brightly-coloured flowers.”

Mel thanked Imran for his kind gift and added:

“A big thank you to you Imran for donating and getting involved in planting today.

Chief Gardener, Chris Clarke, spreads the wildflower seeds at the BRI

“We know how much our grounds and gardens are appreciated by our colleagues and patients and their families and these wildflowers will be a lovely addition.”

    While Chris commented:

“It’s great to receive Imran’s donation, the flowers were instantly sown on two flowerbeds around the BRI’s rainbow entrance – you can’t underestimate the power of nature on our patients and colleagues’ wellbeing.”

The Trust has a number of wellbeing and reflection gardens across the BRI, St Luke’s Hospital and Westwood Park Community Hospital – which offer everyone ample space for the chance to relax, reflect and enjoy the lovely weather in a calm and natural environment.
