Sulleman was appointed a consultant gastroenterologist/hepatologist in 2004. He subsequently developed the hepatology service at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, including the highly successful viral hepatitis treatment service. He consolidated the hereditary haemochromatosis service and started a day case paracentesis service.

Sulleman performs both diagnostic endoscopy and also endoscopic retrograde pancreaticocholangiography (ERCP).

With an interest in providing endoscopy within developing countries, he has also established endoscopy services and trained endoscopists in Mauritius and St Lucia.

He sits on the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) international committee, and is also a staff governor (medical and dental) at the Trust.
