Sam trained in paediatrics in Newcastle and north-east England, as well as New Zealand and Edinburgh, before being appointed consultant neonatologist at Bradford in 2004.
Alongside his clinical work, he leads and delivers research projects in the neonatal unit. They provide opportunities for families to have their baby participate in comparisons of different treatments while on the unit.
The wider neonatal medical and nursing team has worked hard to place research at the heart of its care, and rapidly adopts the latest findings into its daily work.
Sam also leads the Trust’s paediatric and neonatal research team. He is honorary professor at Hull York Medical School.
