Philip believes passionately in the NHS and the provision of quality care and support for patients and their families. He spent his whole career in the NHS firstly in Training and Development then in a series of senior operational management roles, primarily in Bradford and then Airedale Hospital Trusts.

Philip studied for his master’s degree in education at Sheffield university and is a magistrate on the West Yorkshire Bench sitting mainly in Bradford.

Philip has been involved  in Education in the city for many years firstly as a trustee in a multi academy trust then as chair of governors in three challenging upper schools. He currently sits on the school admissions appeals panel.

Philip and his wife were involved in the Bradford Diocese summer camp for many year. Philip was a member of the Bishops Council  and the Board of Education for the then Bradford Diocese.

Philip lives in Haworth with his wife. They have eight grandchildren which keeps them busy.
