Qualifications: MB, ChB, FRCS (Ed) FFSTEd
Mark is a colorectal surgeon and the Trust’s clinical lead for GI, urology and vascular surgery.
He graduated in medicine from Leeds University and completed his senior training in the North West Deanery and Manchester.
His research interests include micro-vascular changes in cancers.
Mark is a specialist in training in re-operative surgery for cancers of the colon and rectum, and a trained endoscopist and colonoscopist for early rectal cancer.
He is also an expert in transanal excision of rectal polyps using microsurgical techniques.
Mark is a former staff governor at the Foundation Trust, where he also served as our council of governors’ vice-chairman.
Clinical interests
Early rectal cancer (TEMS), colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, faecal incontinence, perianal and haemorrhoidal problems, abdominal and pelvic pain and its investigation, abdominal wall and inguinal hernias, gallbladder disease minor skin surgery.
