I have always been very interested in the work of the NHS particularly in my native city of Bradford. I served as a non-executive Director (or part-time lay person member) on the Board of North Bradford PCT helping develop GP services in the area where I have lived for over forty years. Later I served as a Governor of Bradford Hospital Trust and then as a non-executive Director until 2015, when I found the work deeply satisfying. I have continued to follow closely events and developments in the NHS in our city of Bradford and now feel ready to serve another term as a Governor.

A Magistrate for twenty years, I recently retired from a career in local business, latterly as Chairman of a Bradford company employing some 500 people. I hope my long business experience will prove of value in the role of Governor. Educated at Bradford GS and Oxford U, I have spent most of my working life in West Yorkshire and have children and grandchildren in the area. My wife was a nurse and I have a deep respect for all those who work in our NHS.

As an elected Governor I will work hard to represent the people of Bradford and their health needs and aspirations. As an independent thinker I will provide support and appropriate challenge. I believe it is more important than ever that the voice of the patient, is heard at the top table of our local Hospitals Trust.
