I am a senior Graphic Designer at Bradford Teaching hospitals medical illustration department and have been working for the NHS since 2018.
The graphic design work in the department is primarily focused on the production of patient information which is increasingly playing a greater part in the overall patient experience and can result in more positive outcomes for patients. The work I undertake is extremely varied and I work with all departments and specialities across the Trust. The role is constantly evolving as the way patients and staff access and consume information is continuously changing and the needs and expectations of our patients are becoming more complex. The pace at which this has changed has accelerated greatly due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the department – as well as the NHS as a whole – has had to find new ways of working, with a particular focus on digital solutions.
The other side of my role is providing design support to the corporate and internal communications function for the Trust. This is equally as varied and can include anything from the production of strategies and annual reports, video editing, animation and motion graphics or large-scale exhibition graphics for events.
I love working for the NHS and Medical Illustration is a fantastic team to be part of.
