Qualifications: BChD (Leeds), MFDSRCS (Edinburgh), FDS (Rest Dent) RCPS (Glasgow), FDSRCS (Rest Dent)
Specialist areas: restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics and periodontics, implant dentistry and facial rehabilitation.
Ahmed qualified from the Leeds Dental Institute in June 2000 and gained considerable experience in hospital dental services working at St Luke’s Hospital and Bradford Royal Infirmary, Charles Clifford Dental Hospital (Sheffield), Morriston Hospital (Swansea) and Eastman Dental Hospital (London).
Following a five year specialist registrar training programme, Ahmed gained the certificate of completion of specialist training in restorative dentistry and its mono-specialties at St George’s Hospital, Kings College Hospital Dental Institute, and Croydon (Mayday) University Hospital.
He was appointed as the first post-CCST Clinical and Surgical Fellow, in any dental speciality, in head and neck cancer oral rehabilitation by the North West Deanery. This allowed him to gain additional specialist surgical and restorative experience in head and neck cancer rehabilitation at two of the foremost head and neck cancer rehabilitation centres in the UK.
Since 2012 Ahmed has been a consultant and registered specialist in restorative dentistry and oral/facial rehabilitation at St Luke’s Hospital and is currently lead consultant of the Restorative Dentistry department.
He has had papers published widely both nationally and internationally and is a member and fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England respectively, and the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow.
