Frequently asked questions

Can I nominate a student?

Student health care professionals like nurses & midwives can be nominated for DAISY awards. Their nominations will be recognised and the individual nominated will be contacted. However, as they are not contracted members of hospital staff they cannot be considered for the full award.

I don’t know the staff member I want to nominate: full name, or their job title, can I still nominate them?

Yes. A nomination can be made even if there’s information missing. Give us as much detail as possible in the rest of the nomination, like where the staff member works & what kind of work they were doing. The DAISY co-ordinators can use this information to ensure the nomination goes to the right place. If you are unsure of their eligibility for a DAISY award please refer to the criteria above.

I nominated a staff member for the wrong award, is this going to be ignored?

No. All nominations are considered. The DAISY co-ordinators check job roles and eligibility of all nominees, and will ensure that each one gets the right kind of recognition & reward.

What happens after I have sent in my nomination? Will I be updated?

Once the DAISY co-ordinators receive a nomination, it is processed and scored against set criteria. Higher scoring nominations will be considered for winning. Nominators are contacted in the event of their nominator winning an award to ask if they would like to join in with the ceremony. All nominations are recognised with the person nominated contacted.

Do I have to leave contact information? What if I prefer to nominate anonymously?

Nominators are in no way obliged to give their information when making a nomination for a staff member. If you do not wish to be contacted, please say “NO” when prompted and do not leave your contact information.
