• Bradford district GPs and pharmacists are available over the festive period

DISTRICT GPs have issued a reminder to Bradford and Craven residents that they can still book appointments with them or other healthcare professionals over the festive period.

GPs, pharmacists and the NHS 111 service will all still be available throughout Christmas and New Year.

Appointments are available during the working day, in the evenings and at weekends. This includes the weekend before Christmas and Christmas Eve (21-24 December, 2019), the weekend between Christmas and New Year (28-29, December 2019) and the weekend after New Year before many people return to work and children go back to school (4-5 January, 2020).

People can book an appointment through their usual GP practice. Evening and weekend appointments may be at your usual GP practice or a different NHS location nearby, and can be with a GP or other healthcare professional.

Dr Andy Withers, GP and Clinical Chair, NHS Bradford Districts Clinical Commissioning Group (pictured) said: “It’s always worth reminding people that GP practices are open over the festive period. We have appointments at evenings and weekends so it’s easier for people to see somebody for advice when they need it.

“There are also pharmacies open across our area on the bank holidays, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

“Pharmacies are a great first place to go for advice on minor illnesses such as tummy aches, coughs and colds or for advice on medicines. People can drop in for advice without the need to book an appointment. There are some pharmacies which open in the evenings and weekends too.”
