Monday 19 September has been declared a national bank holiday to mark the date of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral.
Our services will be reduced to allow staff and patients to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate Her reign, while marking the final day of the period of national mourning.
We are working hard to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum but due to the bank holiday, some planned activity, including surgery, our-patient appointments and day cases, will be cancelled.
Patients impacted by these cancellations will be contacted directly and there is no need to call us.
Our clinicians are reviewing the most clinically urgent cases and those who have been waiting a long time to assess whether their appointments and procedures can be maintained. Where this is not possible we will make urgent arrangements to reschedule.
All of our urgent and emergency services will be continuing as normal on Monday 19 September. Patients with life-threatening illnesses should still attend our A&E department.
We are making provision for those patients already in hospital to be able to pay their respects and watch the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
We apologise to all patients whose appointments have been affected by this extraordinary national event and would like to reassure people that we will reschedule these appointments for the earliest opportunity.
