Bradford Royal Infirmary’s new £28 million, state-of-the-art wing has continued to win plaudits – this time scooping a design award.
The new wing, part of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was recognised with the top honour at the Local Authority Building Control awards for West Yorkshire at Wakefield Unity Works.
It took first place in the best public service building category, beating off stiff competition from other projects delivered at one of the Foundation Trust’s neighbouring NHS Trusts and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The landmark building was recently opened by HRH The Princess Royal, who toured the new facilities and met patients and staff.
Paul Featherstone, Director of Estates and Facilities at the Foundation Trust, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that we’ve won this award, it reinforces the fact that we’ve got a fantastic new building that delivers great patient care in a bright, fresh and open environment.
“To see patients and staff able to access and enjoy the new facility in an environment that helps facilitate care while visiting Bradford Royal Infirmary is magnificent and I would like to thank all those who have been involved in progressing the design and delivering the building.”
