David was elected public governor for Shipley in December 2016, having been an interim governor from July 2016.  He uses experience gained in his previous role as head of corporate assurance for the Health and Social Care Information Centre – where he used risk-based assurance to assess how the organisation is being managed – to help hold the non-executive directors to account for how they manage the board.

In 2017 he chaired the group tasked with recommending the appointment of external auditors for the Foundation Trust.

David also keeps in touch with constituents’ concerns by attending meetings of GP patient-participation groups and meeting with local councillors. David is also part of the group recommending the appointment of the external auditors in 2020 as well, vice-chair of the Council of Governors and a member of the RNC.
