I am a fully qualified medical illustration practitioner with over 30 years’ experience of producing award-winning work in the medical illustration field within the NHS and I have represented the professional body for the field, the Institute of Medical Illustrators, in this region in the past. I hold a professional registration with the Academy for Healthcare Science Accredited Register, with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital and healthcare industry.

I am skilled in all aspects of clinical photography and video, ophthalmic imaging, ophthalmic research, medical devices, digital imaging, healthcare information technology and management in healthcare.

I have a strong scientific, arts and design background, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree focused in Photographic Sciences at the University of Westminster in 1989, the only course of its kind in the UK at the time. I subsequently embarked on a training programme with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to be become a Clinical Photographer.

Since then, I have gone on to create multi-awarding winning clinical photographs, both in Bradford, and during a number of years managing a Medical Illustration Unit at Barnsley District General Hospital.

I returned to Bradford Teaching Hospitals in 2000 to further contribute to Medical Illustration’s ISO 9001:2015, internationally recognised, Quality Management System, for which I am a qualified auditor.

I led the department’s video services for a number of years, having received national ‘best in show’ recognition for my video work.

I currently lead the team of clinical photographers and I am the primary Ophthalmic Research Photographer, with a wealth of research imaging knowledge from accreditations and submissions to many national and international Ophthalmic Research programmes.
