Neurology

Bradford Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust’s Neurology department provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient neurological services.

Inpatient services are based on ward 6 at Bradford Royal Infirmary. This ward is shared with acute stroke services and provides both acute neurological care and inpatient neuro-rehabilitation.

The outpatient service offers a combination of new patient assessments and support for those requiring longer term management, covering all neurological conditions.

In addition to standard new patient referrals the service offers fast-track appointments for those with newly-diagnosed epilepsy and where there is concern regarding CNS tumours.

Specialist disease specific outpatient services are provided in neuromuscular disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.

The department works closely with the Bradford Community Epilepsy Service and provides Botox for the management of headache.

The specialist disease specific services are supported by two multiple sclerosis nurses, three epilepsy nurses, a Parkinson’s disease nurse, and a specialist neuromuscular physiotherapist.

Diagnostically the department is supported by a full range of MRI and CT imaging and Neurophysiology.
