The Bishop of Bradford, the Right Reverend Toby Howarth, visited Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) this week to show his support for staff at a particularly busy time for the NHS as winter pressures build.
Bishop Toby was greeted by Chief Executive of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Professor Mel Pickup, Head of the Trust’s Spiritual, Pastoral and Religious Care (SPaRC) team, Imam Mohammed Arshad, and SPaRC Church of England Practitioner Rev. Steve Lees.
He then visited the hospital’s Neonatal Unit, to congratulate colleagues on their recent CQC ‘Outstanding’ rating, and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where Bishop Toby met staff and heard about their work.
Professor Pickup said:
It was lovely that Bishop Toby took time out of his busy schedule to come and meet our colleagues and show his support for the Trust and all it does. I know people really appreciated his visit and interest in what they do and enjoyed giving him a window on their world.
The visit finished at the BRI chapel, where Bishop Toby joined staff in a Christmas carol service.
