• Hollywood ball is coming to Bradford

Tickets are still available for the second ever Bradford Neonatal Ball which takes place on Saturday, 23 November.

The Hollywood themed ball promises to be a dazzling and stylish event to celebrate the families and babies of Bradford Royal Infirmary’s Neonatal Unit, part of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The glamorous, black-tie ball will raise money for Bradford Hospitals Charity’s Neonatal Appeal which aims to enhance current facilities by creating a new ‘Home from Home’ facility for parents and siblings, so they can spend more time with their babies while they are patients.

The Appeal aims to fund a further five bedrooms (to add to the five they already have for relatives), a large kitchen diner, a prayer room and laundry room, so that the experience of the families, from across the region, can be made that little bit easier.

Neonatal Senior Sister, Andrea Firth, who is leading the team organising the ball for the second time, said:

The ball will be a sparkling tribute to everyone involved in the unit, as well as our parents and babies who make everything we do, worthwhile.

I’m overwhelmed by the support I have had from parents, doctors and nurses who have bought tickets and am incredibly grateful to the local businesses in Bradford for their support through sponsorship.

Parents and staff are very much part of one team in the Neonatal Unit and this event will celebrate that, while raising money to help parents of the future.

The Neonatal Unit cares for around 750 premature and sick babies every year. One baby in 10 of all babies born in Bradford requires admission to the unit.

The unit takes newborns from all over the Yorkshire and Humber region and staff provide intensive care treatments to babies born as early as 22 weeks.

Head of Fundraising for Bradford Hospitals Charity, Lisa Williams, said:

We are so grateful to Andrea Firth and the Neonatal Team for taking the time to plan and organise the Hollywood Charity Ball.

Funds raised at the event will be to support the Charity’s Neonatal Appeal which seeks to create a nurturing sanctuary, adjacent to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Bradford Royal Infirmary, offering families a comforting space to stay close to their newborns during this emotionally charged time.

The ball will take place at Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford on Saturday, 23 November, and include a red carpet arrival, glass of fizz and four-course dinner. Tickets cost £60 and dress code is black tie.
