Neonatal unit

The Neonatal Service is made up of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Transitional Care Unit (TCU) and the Neonatal Outreach Team. We are situated in the Women’s and Newborn building, which can be found at the gate 5 hospital entrance on Smith Lane. Our service cares for babies who may have been born prematurely or those needing specialist care/intensive care after birth.

These pages will guide you through our services. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask the nurse looking after your baby, the nurse in charge or the ward manager.

We have put together lots of information to help guide you and your family through your baby’s stay on the unit.

Feedback

We welcome feedback from patients and their families. It is a chance for you to tell us straight away what we are doing right and what we could do better to improve our care in the future.

Feedback is extremely valuable and important to us, and we would be very grateful if you could answer a few short questions.

If you are unhappy with the care you or your baby receives, please ask to speak to the neonatal matron or ward manager who will be happy to try and resolve any issues whilst you are in our care.
