Mel’s weekly round-up: Our Place
This week’s film takes a look behind the scenes at our new dedicated Transfusion Unit at The Meadows haematology and oncology day unit at Eccleshill Community Hospital.
Treating patients with inherited red blood cell disorders, such as thalassaemia, the new five-day service is a home-grown initiative in response to patient feedback. The service is now in a permanent separate and bigger space and reflects that the Haematology team wants to improve the experience of patients who need regular blood transfusions.
We hear from the specialist nursing team and a patient about the difference the new environment is already making.
