Staff from Bradford Royal Infirmary’s A&E department will be swapping emergency medicine for mud as they take on the Total Warrior obstacle course to raise money for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity.
Bradford Hospitals’ Charity is the official NHS charity of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, funding equipment and projects which are over and above what the NHS routinely provides, enhancing care, treatment, and the hospital environment.
The 36 doctors, nurses, clinical and clerical staff will take on the mother of all muddy challenges – a 12km course of 30 obstacles – at Bramham Park, Leeds, on 1 July.
Senior Sister Lucy Lowe said the team were tackling the course because they wanted to raise money to enhance patient services and give their teamworking skills a healthy workout.
“We’re all really looking forward to the event,” she said.
Sharon Milner, Bradford Hospitals’ Charity Director, said: “The contagious enthusiasm of our NHS staff here at Bradford Teaching Hospitals echoes their dedication to providing the very best compassionate care and treatment.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our colleagues for raising money to help us fund projects which enhance patient care. We wish them the best of luck and lots of fun in the mud!”
