NEW and current Shipley College students who have not yet had their COVID vaccination can grab a jab at one of the five pop-up clinics this week.
Students aged between 16 and 17 and three-quarters will only need to have one vaccination. Any student at the college who is aged 18 and over can have their first vaccination at the college but if they wish to have their second must have allowed eight weeks between each dose. Vaccination sessions are taking place between 9am and 5m from Wednesday 1 to Friday, September 3, 2021.
The college has written to all students and parents / carers of students who have enrolled on full-time courses inviting them to the clinic at the Jonathon Silver building on the campus. Students have also been sent details of times for a COVID-19 test at the college before they have their vaccination. Information about requirements around the vaccine has been sent to students going out on placement in health and social care courses.
Staff and their immediate families have also been invited to have their vaccinations and the college is encouraging them to take up the offer to protect themselves and each other.

Shipley College Vice-Principal, Diana Bird, said: “The college encourages all staff and students to take up the offer of a vaccine and wants to make it as easy as possible for our community to access the vaccine to protect themselves and each other.”
Rukeya Miah, Deputy Associate Director of Nursing / Senior Midwife at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust / Bradford District and Craven community vaccination programme, welcomed the opportunity to the provide the pop-up vaccination clinics.
“These clinics offer students and staff protection against COVID-19 at the start of the college year and I hope as many as possible will come along to help prevent the spread of this virus so they can enjoy their time at college and the experiences available to them.
“It is so important that we make the most of this opportunity to fight this virus, especially following the relaxation of restrictions including social distancing.

The NHS is also providing pop-up vaccination clinics at Bradford College and at Craven and Keighley colleges for the start of the autumn term.
