What we do
Bradford Teaching Hospitals has supported clinical research for more than 20 years. The Foundation Trust's commitment to research and ambition to be a national leader is clear and directly influences clinical services. For example, the Foundation Trust runs the Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research Network, and is host to the Yorkshire and Humber Improvement Academy, which helps the organisation to achieve its commitment to provide the best quality and safety of care through both innovative research and then networking the spread of best practice across the region and beyond.
The Foundation Trust's primary method for delivering its research strategy is through the Bradford Institute of Health Research (BIHR). Established in 2007, the BIHR is a unique research partnership between the primary and secondary care NHS Trusts in Bradford and Airedale and the universities of Bradford, Leeds and York.
The BIHR vision is to improve health and services through high quality collaborative research that is locally and nationally relevant and internationally significant; and the application of knowledge for the benefit of society.
