Makeover for Maternity Unit's Snowdrop Suite

Everest trek hits new heights

A Bradford hospital worker is trekking along the roof of the world to Everest Base Camp for poorly children. Shaun Phelan is currently in Nepal, where he’s embarked on a 40-mile trek to Everest base camp at altitudes over five times higher than Mount Snowdon (up to 5,545 metres).

Emergency Department put in the picture

Bradford Royal Infirmary’s newly-revamped £2.8m Emergency Department (ED) is now looking picture perfect thanks to a generous donation from Bingley Camera Club. The amateur photographers donated 20 printed prints of scenes from across Bradford and Yorkshire, including Bingley, Shipley, Simon’s Seat near Bolton Abbey, St Ives Country Park in Harden, Arncliffe, Malham and Whitby.

The Diagnostic Virtual Ward project, based at Bradford Royal Infirmary has been shortlisted for the Medipex NHS Innovation Awards, while the Elderly Care Virtual Ward project, based at St Luke’s Hospital, has been shortlisted for the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Value in Healthcare Awards.

New 'co-sleeper' cots improve baby safety

Bradford Royal Infirmary has taken delivery of a new addition to its maternity wards as the Lullaby Trust’s Safer Sleep Week (13-19 March) gets underway. The hospital, part of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has become one of the first in the country to introduce revolutionary, bedside ‘co-sleeper’ cots to its Women and Newborn Unit.
