Retinal Research

Research is an integral part of the NHS, and at Bradford we have a strong research team engaged in collaborative studies in various macular and retinal diseases, such as AMD, Diabetic Retinopathy, Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR), Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO) and Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion (BRVO).

Research studies help to find the best treatments for these eye conditions, saving the sight of current patients and helping future generations. In some trials we are able to offer patients brand new treatments not currently available on the NHS. In others we are comparing current treatments to determine better ways of treating our patients.

In addition to clinical trials, we run a number of observational studies which can help define the behaviour of various eye disorders and how treatments work in routine clinical practice.

We have had excellent support from our patients who have volunteered for our research projects over the years. This has helped our team to receive national recognition – winning ‘Team of the Year’ in 2016.

You too can help us by participating in our research projects. For further information on our current projects please contact:
