Volunteer radio presenters in Bradford are gearing up for a 30-hour radiothon to raise money for a hospital radio station.
Volunteers at St Luke's Sound - which entertains patients and staff at St Luke's Hospital - will broadcast non-stop from 10am on Tuesday 20 June to 4pm on Wednesday 21 June.
During the two-day entertainment event, the radio team will also hold a tombola in the Horton Wing at St Luke’s, with lots of prizes to be won.
Increase the profile
The radiothon aims to increase the profile of the station which is always on the look-out for new presenters.
The station is asking Bradford companies to sponsor the event, which they can do by contacting David Rathmell, St Luke’s Sound secretary on (01274) 601778 or firstname.lastname@example.org
All funds raised will be spent on maintaining and improving St Luke’s Sound’s service to patients and staff.
David said: “We’ve run radiothons in the past and they have always been well supported so we are hoping that our 2017 event will be as successful as those we have run previously.
“We really hope the local community will get behind the volunteers and celebrate this service that we provide at St Luke’s. As well as the music we play, we see the radio station as a way of keeping patients and staff informed of what’s happening in and around the hospital.”
If you would like to support this radiothon or are interested in finding out more about getting involved in hospital radio, please contact David at the contacts above.
