Elderly Care And Rehabilitation Research
The department is linked to the Academic Unit of Elderly Care and Rehabilitation. This was established with joint funding by the foundation trust and Bradford University in 2005. There are currently ten research staff, led by Professor John Young, Professor Anne Forster and Dr Clegg and Dr Teale are integral to the research team. Professor John Young is Professor of Elderly Care Medicine and Head of the Academic Unit of Elderly Care and Rehabilitation at the University of Leeds. He is also the National Clinical Director for Integration and Frail Elderly at NHS England. John will work with NHS England colleagues and others to improve services for older people nationally.Our research mixes methods approaches to investigate service outcomes for older people, including patients with stroke, in both secondary (hospital) and primary care. Our current funding includes a Medical Research Council (MRC) clinical trials grant (£1.3m) a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) programme grant (£1.86m) and we host the Yorkshire Stroke Research Network (£1.2m).
