The Antenatal Day Unit provides close observation and monitoring for women experiencing a complicated pregnancy including hypertension (blood pressure), hyperemesis (nausea/vomiting in early pregnancy), poor obstetric history, small or large baby for the stage in pregnancy, reduced fetal movements, obstetric cholestasis (itching), confirmed spontaneous rupture of membranes (SROM), fetal abnormalities, diabetes and external cephalic version (turning baby from breech position).
Cardiotocograph (CTG) and computerised CTG to monitor your baby are just some of the procedures performed in the day unit
Easy access is available and referrals can be made by yourself, midwife, GPs, wards, scan and other departments. It provides a safe alternative to hospital admission.
We are also involved in research and audits to improve and develop the services we provide.
